The vision of Forgotten Feroes has been implemented throughout the entire design of the book. First of all, we “forgot” to put the photo on the cover, so you - the buyer - get to chance to choose your own hero and place it on the cover.
The book is bound with orange yarn and finished with an orange ribbon.
In the book, you will find a tribute to the Dutch masters who, centuries ago, also put craftsmen on a pedestal in the form of engravings. We have printed these works with white semi-opaque ink on black paper to preserve the character of the etchings.
Finally, the Dutch text in each chapter is printed semi-transparently because Dutch culture is in danger of disappearing in the stories in the book. In some chapters, you will find QR codes that you can scan to watch a short film about the craft in question.

For three years, I travelled across the country of The Netherlands in search of the most extraordinary remaining traditional crafts, to capture them in all their glory. In over 200 pages you will find more than 150 photos of 17 different crafts of the Netherlands.
This makes the book a never-before-seen document, showcasing the enormous diversity, richness, and importance of Dutch culture.
The scenes have been created in consultation with the artisans to capture this world respectfully and truthfully. The photographs are a representation of how things are still going on today.

Each chapter contains essential stories about crafts and their importance to the Netherlands. The pictures have been carefully thought out and composed to put the world of Dutch crafts on a pedestal.
