The City is Mine
The cityscapes of the Dutch Masters are a major source of inspiration for my work. Over time, our historic cities have become infected with traffic signs, LED lighting, parked vehicles, chain stores, and tourist crowds. Residents are losing their cities, and the cities themselves are losing their peaceful and authentic character.
That is why I decided to take photographs on the moment when the city still belongs to its residents. Before the streets become terraces, and you can walk over the heads of the people. Through image editing, I strip the city of its visual noise and recreate its faces, revealing its full potential.
By this series I hope to give the city back to its residents with contemporary cityscapes their can be proud of again.
